Chirimen is a traditional Japanese textile that originated in Kyoto. Its distinctive textured surface, created through a special weaving and finishing process, gives it a soft feel and an elegant sheen. It has long been used for kimono and traditional accessories.

This fabric is crafted by Nishimura Shoji Shouten, a Kyoto-based company established in 1828. Kin-sai (lit. gold coloring) chirimen features this unique texture with added shimmering gold accents, combining a supple touch with a refined, elegant brilliance. It’s perfect for sewing projects such as bags, pouches, or small accessories like tsumami-zaiku and hair accessories.

Note: Wrinkles can be gently smoothed out with a dry iron (no steam).
